Although Halloween is well past us at this point, that does not mean we can’t appreciate a properly spooky slot every now and then. The Rift is a 5 reel, 17 payline game, available on both iOS and Android devices, that has you scouring through a town filled with magical items and hoping you don’t bring about the wrath of something much larger than you as you try and figure out what happened.
There are clues you can find. The symbols in the slot are fittingly just creepy enough to make you wonder, especially when lined up against the dark background. Coins with different colours and symbols litter the screen, which are innocent enough, but alongside potions, squids, out of focus stop watches and burning books, you would raise a few eyebrows as well.
And on top of that, the special icons are interesting as well. Wilds form the same pattern you see on the background, while Scatters are drawn as the game’s logo. Wilds have the ability to become sticky, and pay just as well as the highest paying symbol in the slot, which makes it an appealing find.
How to play The Rift
The Rift keeps the standard Thunderkick interface, and we could not be happier for it. The simple black and white appearance makes it fit into most games, while still being usable for touch and smaller screens. The addition of the Autoplay option is also a fantastic, and one more mobile slots should opt for.
The 17 paylines are fixed, but you are still able to adjust your bet level, allowing you to play from $0.10 up to $100. While more options would be interesting, we understand why Thunderkick chose to lock down the paylines and not make them flexible.

The Rift makes use of many bonus options and Wilds to power your ability to win and keep spinning. With a low to medium volatility, while you cannot expect any world changing wins, you can still earn a pretty penny playing around with the game. It is not progressive, but it is not the end of the world with or without it.

As you activate three or more Scatters, the background lights up and the free spins start coming in. Depending on how many Scatters triggered the bonus, you will be given 10, 15 or 20 bonus rounds. Each time another Scatter appears during the extra gameplay, you move up one step on the seal.
The background is made out of 9 seals – each time you get a Scatter, it gives you two more free spins. Additionally, you have guaranteed sticky Wilds the further you progress up the seal, up to 3 Sticky Wilds on the reel.
We personally did not get up to 9 seals, but between 3 to 6 is more than possible, and is quite a nice treat regardless.
