Having spent countless hours researching th RTG’s release, we can tell you what the real focus of it all is. It’s not about the two wrestlers ready to jump into the ring for glory. It’s not about winning the big, golden belt, or the silver cup. It’s not about the fanboys, and putting your name on collectable cards, posters, and indeed, it’s not even about hot sauce, tequila with lime, tacos and hot peppers which you can find as symbols in the game. In fact, you might even be fooled into thinking Taco Malo is the protagonist of this story, since he’s on most of the icons and you play as him during the special feature. But no, dear friends. This whole game is a devious plan by RTG to make the pun “Nacho Friend” and get away with it.
Provided you’re not seething in fury at this sort of betrayal, we can also tell you that Lucha Libre 2 offers gamblers a 5×3 playing field with 30 flexible paylines, allowing gamblers to turn paylines on or off to give themselves a lower bet if they need it. There are several special features in this slot. Both Taco Malo and Nacho Friend are stacked Wilds that only appear on the third reel. If they fully cover the reel, they can either multiply prizes that include Wild by 2x, 3x or 10x randomly, or they can jump onto another reel to give you two Wild covered reels. Collecting three or more Mucho Mayhem Scatters rewards a free spins bonus. You can pick between three fighting moves, each one having a different risk and reward attached to it. There are also Fist Scatters. If Fists appear on the first and second reel and three wrestlers appear on the third reel, a Fist of Fury spin is triggered.
How to Play Lucha Libre 2
We like the general direction that the artists were going in, but it does feel like they ran out of ideas about halfway through. The backdrop being a wrestling cage is a nice touch, and there are quite a few symbols that relate to the popularity of Taco Malo, such as posters and collectable cards. He has his own fanboys, and you also have things relating to the match, like the golden belt, the cup, the referee, and, of course, the two wrestlers, as well. But then you also have hot sauce, tequila, nachos and a hot pepper tossed in as icons, for no other reason than the fact that they’re associated with Mexico, best we can tell.
As far as gameplay goes, Lucha Libre 2 isn’t particularly interesting to play outside of its special features. The design is rather bland, and while the game says the stacked wrestlers on the third reel are able to jump left or right, in all the time we’ve played the title we have never seen it actually happen, which is a bummer. The situation is obviously salvaged somewhat thanks to the multipliers on Wilds, though, but that only goes so far.
Jackpots & Progressives
While there’re no progressive jackpots, there is an equally elusive one, called the Fist of Fury special feature. To activate it, you need Fist Scatters to appear on the first and second reel, with three wrestlers on the third reel. Fists of Fury hold up to four reels with Scattered Fists in all positions, while the other reels spin. These usually occur during the free spins bonus, either before or after the spins have already been played out, and usually bring a really lucrative amount if it pays out properly. However, getting it to pay off is rare, as the feature is rather difficult to activate.
