Dragonz Mobile Slot Review
Released in November 2016, Microgaming had a large reputation to upkeep with their latest slot. After releasing massive successes, they set their own bar high for their newest slot. Dragonz takes the gorgeous graphics we have come to expect from the company, and laid it back against a wonderful looking backdrop that shifts compared to which dragon you’re spending time with. With 5 reels and 243 paylines, you will follow Flint, Switch, Frost and Gobble along and hope that they grace you with their fabulous specials, and after a while, you can even choose which one you want.
This game uses a mixture of gambling symbols and the dragons themselves to represent its playing icons. Standard symbols such as 9, 10, J, Q, K and A have a bit of decoration added onto them, but they don’t match up to the higher paying dragon icons, which have had a lot more detail put into their appearances.
Microgaming was hardly creative when it came to devising the symbols for the slot’s special features. Scatters come in the shape of a purple-silver gemstone with Scatter written beneath. You can use it to trigger free spins, but as an additional prize, Scatters give you the largest win in the game also.
Wilds have a similar look, with a golden ring with a blue gemstone slipped within, and the word Wild written across the icon. It gives a decent cash prize on its own, it can replace any icon except the Scatter, and it comes with its own bonus feature.
How to Play Dragonz
The user interface in this slot is well done on mobile devices. It moves the options into a separate tab, cleaning up the playing field to allow you to focus on the reels exclusively. It avoids cluttering the limited amount of screen space you have, and it looks much smoother over all.
Within, you can adjust your coin value and size, allowing you to play in a range between as little as $0.40 up to $30. And while the low upper bet level might dissuade high rollers, both casual players and those hunting for a profit will find the large potential for wins enticing.
In addition, you can choose whether or not the user interface displays your winnings in credits or coins, if it shows you your current balance, if you want sounds to be active or not, and finally, if you want Quick Spin active or not.
Jackpots and Progressives
Dragonz is not a progressive game, but the potential for a massive jackpot is visible from the moment you first open your paytable and see that the upper limit is 2,150,000 coins. That said, the odds of even reaching close to this limit are not in your favour, but that doesn’t mean there’s no satisfying wins lying around.
The various special features will without doubt increase your odds for a sizeable win, and Wilds also come with a built in recovery system. If you have a Wilds on reel 3 and you don’t have a winning combination, more Wilds will appear on the reels to give you a guaranteed win.
Bonus Games and Signups
Three or more Scatters will activate the various bonus games present in Microgaming’s release. Each dragon comes with their own different special that they bring you. All dragons give you 10 free spins to begin with.
Flint, the red dragon, will award you Flaming Wilds, where he will spit fiery Wilds onto the reels. The amount of Wilds increases each time he shoots, so the odds of chaining a win are increased.
Switch, the purple dragon, stashes your Wilds for you. All non-winning Wilds are taken off the reels, and once you have three or more Wilds, they are placed on the reels randomly to form a guaranteed win.
Frost, the blue dragon, grants you Frosty Wilds. All non-winning Wilds remain frozen in place until they become part of a winning combination. As a cherry on top, free spins continue until all frozen Wilds are removed from the reels.
Finally, we have Gobble, the green dragon, who acts like a hybrid between Frost and Flint. Like Flint, he will shoot Wilds on the reels, and like Frost, those Wild will remain stuck to the reels until they become a part of a winning combination.
The choice of which special feature you get is random until you’ve received twelve of them, at which point, you are allowed to pick your own. Twelve is, in our opinion, an excessive number, and most players will not have the patience to reach it.
