Deco Diamonds Mobile Slot Review
How do you make a slot machine more reminiscent of old physical fruit machines while still making them enjoyable? You toss away all the annoying sound, put in a catchy, looping tune, give it a nice, burgundy backdrop and a pair of nice looks reels and delicious fruits tossed all over them. While it’s clear where the inspiration comes from, there’s also no denying that this is one good looking title that JFTW put out in collaboration with Microgaming. From the first time we booted it up, we fell in love with it, despite it being rather simplistic.
Deco Diamonds is played on a 5×3 layout with 9 paylines. It’s a high variance title that puts most of its value in the special features. Deciding Scatters are perhaps a bit too common, the developers decided going the other route in their game, and instead made Wilds reward re-spins. You will need at least two Wilds to activate the re-spin, and the feature can be retriggered if another Wild appears, so re-spins end when no more Wilds show up, or you collect all five. On top of this, three or Wilds activate a bonus wheel which can reward cash prizes. Depending on how many Wilds triggered the wheel, it falls into the silver, gold, or diamond level, and you can upgrade it by hitting the upgrade tile on the bonus wheel.
How to Play Deco Diamonds
There’s just something incredibly amusing about fruits that are cut in half, with diamonds replacing their seeds. It certainly reminds us of something some eccentric rich person might do to amuse guests at a party, but we have to admit, those are some really yummy looking fruits anyhow. The rest of the title plays very well into it. The looping music is carefree and upbeat, with no other sound effects to distract you from it. The user interface is also pretty well done for mobile users – with all of the buttons set off to the right side of the screen, just a tap away.
On the gameplay side of things, this JFTW release is unapologetically high variance. With just 9 paylines and a single special feature, it’s going to take incredible luck to hit that bonus early, which means for most gamblers, it’s going to be a grind until they reach the much desired after win. To be fair to the title, however, it does have some avenues of getting solid wins beyond reaching for the bonus wheel, although we’d imagine them to be quite rare. If you have the patience and the pockets for it, it can certainly be a fun experience.
Jackpots & Progressives
There is no progressive jackpot to work towards in this slot, so you’re going to have to work for those special features. A five-of-a-kind Wild win rewards gamblers with a 1000x bet win, which is the highest sum you can win on the highest tier of the bonus wheel, as well, and, while unlikely, is helped on by the presence of Wilds triggering re-spins, allowing you to potentially go up to five Wilds and collect a 1000x win, on top of anything the bonus wheel might reward you with afterwards.
Furthermore, depending on the tier, the maximum win on the bonus wheel can go from as little as 80x up to 1000x the wager, which certainly incentivises gamblers to try and hit those upgrades. There’s no guarantee you will, but while the push to diamond tier does give you a higher maximum win, the other prizes lag somewhat behind.
