Age of the Gods: Mighty Midas is a Playtech video slot borrowing its theme from Greek mythology, and is another addition to the Age of the Gods series. It is played on a 5×4 playing field with 40 fixed paylines, so players cannot choose to turn off some or all paylines to lower their total bet. Payouts are granted for collecting three or more symbols in adjacent positions, from left to right, following one of 40 active paylines. The game has several special features, including Golden Wild transformations, Wild multipliers, cash prizes, free spins, stacked icons and the progressive jackpot.

Is it clear Playtech put a fair bit of effort to make this title stand out compared to their usual fare. The background image does not have any animations, but it does look clean and crisp, showing King Midas’ castle. On the reels themselves, only some icons have animations, but the ones that do look fantastic. Symbols include grapes, a cup, an apple, a rose, a turkey, and various members of Midas’ family which turned to gold.

When the Midas Touch symbol appears, it will transform the symbol is it pointing to into Golden Wild. This transformation only lasts for that spin, but it changes every instance of that icon, not just the specific one the symbol pointed towards. The Midas Touch icon disappears after turning a symbol Wild, allowing another icon to drop into its place. If Midas Touch points to Golden Wild, it will increase its multiplier.
When two Scatter symbols appear on the first and fifth reel, they can award one of five different bonuses. The special feature is determined by a random selection of colour from the Scatter icon itself.
- Emerald bonus draws a cash prize from the first reel Scatter and a multiplier from the fifth reel Scatter. The multiplier is then applied to the cash prize, and paid to the gambler.
- Five amber spins are played, during which one symbol from the paytable is turned Wild for that single spin.
- Ruby spins automatically transforms newly created golden Wild into Multiplier Wild. What multiplier is chosen is determined by the Multiplier Tower. The multiplier at the bottom of the tower is applied, and then disappears, leaving a new one in its place.
- Sapphire Spins places stacks of golden Wilds onto the reels. 55, 40 then 65 golden Wilds are added during the first, second and third reel. These added Wilds remain on the reels for all five sapphire spins.
- Finally, during Amethyst spins, all Midas touched icons appear stacked 2-high.
